first spring walk

joon, mika and i went on a very long walk to and through one of the downtown parks today. it's finally getting warm out and there wasn't a cloud in the sky all day... gorgeous!

in the late afternoon we went to my mom's/grandparent's house, generally revered to simply as karrnweg, which is the name of the street "our" house is on. joon first wanted to water all the newly in bloom flowers but then decided pouring the water into the bucket and back into the watering can, then back into the bucket and so forth was way more fun. how she didn't get soaking wet i still don't know...

new video from today will be on youtube in a little while.

Joon's room

In an effort to try and help those of you who love us feel slightly more connected to us despite the distance (Hello, Micronesian family members!) I took some pictures of what Joon's room looks like now. This is where she plays. :)

Her big girl bed. She doesn't sleep in it yet, but Mika and I get comfy in there for part of the night usually so that Dave and Joon can get some good sleep in our family bed.

Best restaurant in town. Raw whole wheat pasta underneath the changing table. Yum.

Aisha made the star lamp for us. She's the most patient nine-year-old crafter I've met.

That's it. Now I've got to get us ready for fleamarketing with the Cho's. :D

ridin' in style

Mika was sitting right behind me so I couldn't snap a picture of her. Plus, she doesn't have rockin' shades like we do so it wouldn't have fit in with the theme anyway. ;)

yes, yes, yes...

... I suck at blogging.

Ever since I decided that having to divide my attention between two little girls was challenging enough without having to pay attention to the online world, I barely get time on the computer. Enough to check my email and facebook and my friend's blogs, but not enough to respond. I'm sorry.

So instead of writing every one of you individually, this sucky blog is just gonna have to do for now.

Here's another random update from us with lots of random pics.

It was Joon's Great Grandma's birthday and warm out (AND St. Patrick's Day), so Joon wore a dress. Not something we normally do, but it seemed like an appropriate occasion to dress up a bit.

Mika loves bathing in the sun on her changing table.

Please excuse the crappy quality of most of these pics. They're taken with my "Mom-Cam" which is quick and handy but not as fancy as our regular camera.

Joon's very interested in using the "Klo" but hasn't been successful on it yet. I'm guessing it would help if we read up on potty training at least a little, but like with most things "parenting" we're taking the "let's just see what happens and trust our kid and own guts" approach. It'll lead to a life without diapers eventually.

Passed out monkey with hurt foot. You may have heard... Mika got injured last week. Spilled coffee on her left foot and Dave's hip. Not good. At all. We were pretty shocked and felt really bad for what happened. But now the shock is digested and all wounds are thankfully healing very nicely. Our new pediatricians kick ass btw!

Yet another clue that Mika is taking after her mother... She hates being photographed.

The sewing bug has biten me pretty badly again and this is my first quick little project post baby. Took an hour to come up with the pattern, iron and cut the fabrics and then an hour to sew. I love it!

I told you this was gonna be random. We saw Elvis. His current reincarnation is apparently a goat. You'll be glad to know that he's lucky to be living a happy healthy life on an organic farm.

Joon got her first guitar. She likes jamming to our John Mayer DVD. (Btw, if you haven't seen "Where The Light Is", buy it or rent it from Netflix. It's seriously amazing!)

"Bis dann!" (See you later!) she said, pulled her little bike up the stairs and tried to open the gate out into the street. I'm both incredibly proud and more than slightly sad about all this newly gained independence.

In other news.
-Dave has a new small job at the theater in Wiesbaden as an Extra in an Opera and we're hoping it'll turn into more work and some musician gigs in the near future.
-The Captain Pablo album is available for purchase here and the Spurv Laerke album release has been pushed back to late summer and will be followed by a tour.
-Joon just fell on her face really hard this morning and will probably look like a pro boxer for a couple of days.
-Mika is huge and finally not as cranky as she was the first few weeks. Seems that she's finally really arrived on this earth.
- I'm happy. But that's old news.
-Spring is just around the corner and my mom finally got a cool VW camping van again, so as soon as it's warm enough we'll take our little family on a short little vacation.
